Bico da Rán is made using grapes from vineyards in the Val do Salnés subzone of Rias Baixas, named after the ‘sal’ (salt) the Romans used to harvest there. A fantastic Albariño from Galicia.
Region: Rias Baixas, Galicia, Spain
Tasting notes/pairing options: Citrus fruits, fennel and passion fruit on the nose, while on the palate it is fruity but fresh, with good intensity and length. Refreshing on its own or great with seafood.
Viticulture is sustainable
Suitable for vegans and vegetarians
The vineyard/the producer: The vines are grown at the bottom the Rías Baixas appellation, on the banks of the river Minho, which forms a natural border between Spain and its neighbour Portugal. The wines from this area are a bit less acidic and produce a slightly rounder palate without losing any of the typical Rías Baixas freshness. At Fento they farm as respectfully to nature as possible, they let vegetation grow underneath Pergola trained vines, a system that is traditional to the region.
