This is a lovely plant for lighting up a shady spot. The lance shaped, bright yellow-green leaves are very fresh and eye-catching in spring. They turn greener as the season progresses and are followed in summer and autumn by spikes of dark red flowers over a long periods as the foliage gradually takes on reddish autumn tints.
